Direct Messages: Direct Messaging on your computer

This article is about how you can access and use direct messaging to chat one-to-one with another user on the platform.

1. Log into your Digital Deets account. 

2. Find and click on the Messages icon in the menu bar at the top of the page. 

3. You will be brought to the Direct Messaging page. Click on the pencil/notepad icon to access the Directory. A list of all users in the platform from teachers to administrators, parents and volunteers will be listed. You can use the search bar to find the person you want to direct message. A list of users will appear, choose the one that you want to message. If the person has NOT turned on direct messaging you will see Unavailable: Messages have not been turned on by this user and you will not be able to message them. 

4. After you select the person you want to message then you will be brought to a screen to begin typing. When you push enter the message will appear and be sent to the user. If you need to delete a message, you can hover of the left hand top corner of the chat bubble and you can press the red X. This will delete the message. 

5. After the user reads the message and replies, you will see a notification symbol over the messages icon in the top menu bar. You can then press messages icon and be brought to a list of conversations you have going in direct messaging. Choose the person you want to respond to click on their name. You can now type in your response. 

** Please note that all messages will be translated if the person chooses a language other than English in their account settings. You may also type in a language other than English and those messages will be translated for the person that would like them in English.
